VMP Covergirl ~ Jill Bortz

This week’s VMP Covergirl is…… JILL BORTZ!

Jill is a force to be reckoned with my friends! She’s a “bad ass bookkeeper” with Bortz Bookkeeping and is a “go do it” sort of person. She doesn’t shy away from challenges or opportunities (and even does power lifting on the side) and has newly and successfully launched her kids into the world as a single mom.

For her session we wanted to do something beautiful, something edgy and something for business that reflected her personality.

Did you have any older female role models when you were younger? Who were they and what impact did they have on you? Did they give you any advice that really helped you?

The one female that made an impact on my life was my Grandmother, Katie Ruth Bailey.  She was a "traditional" Southern woman, a school teacher who loved the lord.  She would always make me sit up straight, tried to get me to stop biting my nails, would send me a bible every birthday.  She taught me what unconditional love was.

How did you mark turning 50? How did that feel to you?

I really did not do anything special.  I can't believe I am in my 50s.  I still feel young and invincible, the only slight difference is my body reminds me I am not invincible!

What advice would you give your younger self?

Hold you head up high and keep going.  Keep searching for what makes you happy.  You can do anything!

Do you feel like you've changed since you've turned 50? Example: have your values or your perception of being attractive changed?

I have started two businesses that I hope to carry me into my future self.  My last two children have graduated High School, so my dream is to purchase some land, have a nice little tiny home, maybe raise some chickens.

What positives have come from being over 50?

Nothing yet?  LOL

Do you have any goals or projects you're working on? What dreams do you have for the future?

Definitely retirement soon. Hoping to sell the company in the next few years. Looking to purchase a second home in Florida.

What is your best advice for other women who are coming up on turning 50? What do you 'know' now?

Love you!  The time will come when it is time to focus on you.  Find yourself, do what makes you happy!

How would you like people to describe you or see you? What do you most want people to remember about you?

She is fierce, fun and always smiling.  She is hilarious!  I want people to remember that I could do anything.  Nothing scared me (except rats), and I lived life to the fullest.  I loved helping others.

Why are beautiful photos important to you right now?

I have never felt like I was beautiful.  I want to see that in myself.

Congratulations Jill!
